Re: recorded files

Until you save an Audacity project or export, the audio data is in Audacity's temporary folder. Edit > Preferences... then look in "Directories" to see where that folder is. I exported now. but why the results are very bad? low volume and effect as I were in a central station (*astonished*...

Re: USB Headset Mic Interference

USB microphones can go through normal Windows sound services. Is that turned up? It's not likely, but Windows also has Enhanced Services that can occasionally cause troubles. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements I had one Windows machine insist on appl...

Re: Wav file is static

The "Codec ID" that MediaInfo gives for a normal WAV file is "1".
Google search comes up with nothing useful for Codec ID : A119, but it is not a normal WAV file.
Where did the file come from?

Re: Warning - Orphan Block File(s) Audacity 2.0.6

When I open my project to work again on it, a window <Warning - Orphan Block Files> pop. It explains <Project check of <Marie-Pierre-Sound-Project_data> folder found 46 orphan block files. These files are unused by this project, but might belong to other projects. They are doing no harm and are sma...

Re: Editing a Compressed File (Sound) (Is it damaging to do

I think I knew dat./yeah, I knew that.. my questions weren't really about that as much as about the editing of a compressed 'song'. About uncompressing and editing compressed songs/or sounds in general. (I tried to search the topic but found no thing really-). Like to find info--on in's and out's of...

Re: Assistance with hiss diagnosis

I checked those settings, and they all match what you listed. The only remaining thing I can think of is an audio-driver [ conflict? ] problem ... http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/1530985 If it is a due to audio-drivers, the quantized hiss problem will not be specific to Audacity, e.g. will also ...

Re: Wha'd I do?

Interestingly, if I do a search from within Windows for *.aup, (as in <Start><Find><*.aup><enter>), the "Result" window closes before it displays any info (or, at least, before I can see it). The implication is that there's nothing to find (although why the window would close immediately ...

Re: Wha'd I do?

Yes, you're correct - 2.0.6. And, from within the programme, the result is the same whether I go to <file><Recent> or <File><Open>. (They're both shortcuts to the same file, I assume.) That is, the file is listed but trying to open it gives the "invalid or corrupt" message. Interestingly, ...

Re: Chaptering a MP3 record

But isn't it possible to chapter an MP3 file without producing separate and multiple files ? The goal is to navigate within an MP3 recorded file by cliking on the list of labels or chapter. Maybe, but you'd have to find a player that supports it. If it's just for yourself you can search around an m...

Re: Assistance with hiss diagnosis

I've been playing with the input volume in Audacity, along with changing the level on the mic itself. It seems like if I turn up the input volume any higher than 0.03 - 0.05, I start to get the hiss. This is even with the mic volume turned pretty low. The best levels I seem to get are with the mic ...
