I need some assistance with volume control
Running Debian Buster (up to date) Audacity 2.2.2 from distribution release I am trying to take an audio track from a video (from Youtube) and adjust it so that the volume when played is always the same. Most people simply adjust the volume up or down when it is required, but I am playing these vide...

Re: Copying Cassettes to Audacity
Just replace the turntable with the cassette? Or do cassette players use a non-compatible format? You need a soundcard or audio interface with a line-level input. (A headphone output to the line input will also work). ...The mic input on a soundcard/laptop is about 100 times too sensitive, and it's...

Re: Audio Search (EXPERIMENTAL)

There is usually too much variation in natural speech to achieve a match. ok so I might be lucky in just 1 word then if it is the same exact copy, as per my example I was asking. but other than that this is the onl...

Re: Audio Search (EXPERIMENTAL)
Hello I would like to know if it is possible with this plugin to find my voice saying a particular sentence like for example: "yes, I did that", lets assume I have audioA.mp3 and audioB.mp3. audioA.mp3 contains the file with me saying : "yes, I did that" audioB.mp3 contains the file with 1 hour long...

Simulating the Doppler effect
Is there a way - with Audacity or by some other means - of processing the continuous sound of a siren to produce the effect of it approaching, passing and then receding with the characteristic Doppler effect? I can do the movement, but the pitch change is beyond me. A search of the forum turns up a ...

.wav or .mp3 & other options
I am trying to record a bunch of voice narrations for some YouTube videos. I did several recordings at a local recording studio. They were good, but quite expensive. I need to do quite a few more, so I am trying to see if I can come close to studio quality at home. I have a Samson CO3U USB mic and a...

Re: No Forum link under Help tab on Home page
When I got to https://www.audacityteam.org/, I almost keep going because I didn't see a Forum link under the Help tab, the most logical place IMHO, or even under Get Involved. There's a link on the main help page: https://www.audacityteam.org/help/ (Also a link at the bottom of every page of the we...

Re: Dropouts when recording improvements
You mentioned you put new memory in. Have you ever done a memory test? Audio software is in a very tiny list of software that uses "high memory." You can do XL spreadsheets and Photoshop edge blur all day long in perfect health, but the instant you run something that takes large bunches of memory, ...
