Re: Error message: "audacity.exe is not a valid Win32 App" !
Hmmmmmm .... I'm very sorry but I can't help feeling that the most appropriate response to the above post could well be: while(true != false) { printf("mostly wrong ! n") } ... as no doubt is the above code fragment I suspect  Unfortunately I've already installed various versions of t...

Re: AC3 to stereo aiff
Already installed library and split AC3 file into 5 tracks. Did not see any easy way to combine into 2 stereo tracks ... I think the magic word is "downmix" ... https://www.google.com/search?q= downmix ing+stereo+5.1+convert+site:forum.audacityteam.org [ I've not downmixed 5.1 to stereo ,...

Re: Record level has to be set very low 0.04
I had a quick search and the Behringer 202 does seem to have a Burr Brown chip from the same series mentioned by steve http://www.bootic.com/behringer/electronics/audio/audio-players-and-recorders/multitrack-recorders/behringer-uca202-u-control It's the onle A/D I have (other than the mic in on the ...

Re: Add track display view to AUP
Knowing that you are a stickler for detail ;) If the track display is part of the project, then strictly speaking, changing the display of a track "changes the project". So if I open a project and change the view of a track, then the project is now different. So why am I not able to use &...

Re: Orphan Block Files
Thanks Gale, that's what I figured.......since I edited as I went along I''m pretty much "dead in the water"! So you did not find any other files containing references to the orphaned AU files in the _data folder: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Windows-7-Search-File-Contents ? Hopefully this...

Re: Orphan Block Files
Yes, the AUP file only lists 54 AU files. So you closed this project normally, with the entire audio visible? Did you shut down the computer within a few seconds of telling Audacity to save the project? Were any other projects open at the time, or in the same folder as this project? If so, are there...

Re: Suppress folders ending in _data for OPEN, SAVE, etc...
In some cases, “type:file” does not work in the Windows File Explorer Search box. But “*.aup” seems to work in all cases, and the “_data” folder names are filtered out.

Re: Suppress folders ending in _data for OPEN, SAVE, etc...
My problem is that when I wish to open an old project, I always have to scroll scroll scroll past all those folders until I get to the AUP file I need. Can't Audacity somehow have a preference allowing file dialogues (OPEN, SAVE, etc...) suppress folders ending in _data? You cannot do it from Audac...

Re: Hotkey for silence?
If you want however a shortcut for "Generate Silence" you will need to create that for yourself as there is no default setting for this in Audacity. See this page in the Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/keyboard_preferences.html Tip: when you get the Preferences>Keyboard dialog...
