Re: Need pointers on adding feature to search pattern
Did you see Robert's post near the start of this topic? Yeah, but I'm afraid I'm not knowledgeable enough to modify the code to make it work with a sample from my own audio. I tried a manipulating it a bit, but I can't seem to get it. If anyone has time and could let me know what I need to do to ge...

Re: Audacity not working with Headphones
To record your headsets, switch to MME or Windows DirectSound host and select the headset input. If either of your headsets are USB headsets, you can't record computer playback from those using MME or DirectSound, you will have to use the WASAPI host with loopback option. Thanks Gale, the only prob...

Re: low volume and hum using mic
I don't know what this means I assumed you were talking about your USB cable. "SoundCard" has taken on the identity of anything that handles sound whether it's a formal card that fits in your desktop computer or not. That's one reason it's good to use a lot of English words when you're de...

Re: Editing 64k mono iPod Recordings (AAC/M4A) with a PC
64k bits/second is actually a pretty good data rate for a mono 44.1 kHz file... Surprisingly high given that the feature is labeled "Voice Memo" I would have expected no more than "telephone quality". That works out to 11:1 compression. I suspect that there will be more flaws in ...

Re: Recording Quality Questionable
I'm not dealing with any distortion or noise problems. It's simply a matter of quality. The only way I can describe it is that the HD sound on YouTube is rich and has lots of depth, giving me flashbacks to when I used to listen to LP's with my big tower speakers. The same HD sound recorded in Audac...

Re: low volume and hum using mic
I can't find Windows sound recorder. I used the search. I don't find "Entertainment" listed under accessories.
This is Windows 7 Professional.

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
Thanks, Ed. Here is what I propose for a preliminary design specification, the external app should: 1) search in ITS containing folder for Audacity.exe A) if Audacity.exe is found write resetPrefs.txt in said containing folder and exit happily 2) search for the Audacity configuration file using the ...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
an app that writes resetPrefs.txt AFAICT, from an external application, there is currently no way to determine the folder in which the Audacity executable resides on Windows (although, after writing that, I suspect that the external application might be able to determine this information from the R...

Re: Bad sound when recording
Please read the pink panel at the top of this page. What version of Windows, Mac or Linux? What version of Audacity (all three numbers)? You have not said how you are recording YouTube. Take a look at Tutorial - Recording audio playing on the computer - Audacity Manual and look at the instructions f...

Re: Clicking black "split line" auto-merges. Turn off?
I don't think that we can work with the tab key as an alternative. Firstly, each combination needs shift for a backwards motion since we have only one key instead of left/right. Secondly, Ctrl+Tab (import audio) and Ctrl+Shift+Tab (create split) are already assigned (they are doubling conventional ...
