Re: How do you do a ripple-delete/-insert? [SOLVED]
You Turn on SyncLock, cut the old clip, turn off SyncLock, cut the new clip, reposition the cursor between the now adjacent tracks, turn SyncLock on one more time, and then paste the new clip back in (possibly to the same track). Thanks for posting the solution (useful for search purposes as you sa...

Re: Lost data file but still have recorded tracks
Ok, I'll update using the link you sent me earlier and then search for the time you gave me originally.
Thanks, Gale.
Thanks, Gale.

How do you do a ripple-delete/-insert? [SOLVED]
I've used Align Tracks End To End to build a theatre pre-show music fill. Now I have to replace a 55 second clip in the middle with a 1:20 clip. Since each song is in a different track, it doesn't appear that Remove Special will help me there; is there some other way to do this? Sync-Lock Tracks han...

Re: Lost data file but still have recorded tracks
I wanted to search the computer to see if the files were, in fact, available before proceeding. Below are the numbers I found at the top of the log file. They do not match the "starting at time 09:33:36 near the top of the log file." that you suggested I search for. The missing files are ...

Re: Unreadable waveform
Is the recording volume slider turned-up? (It's next to the microphone icon.) I think the recording defaults to 100% so it should be OK, but it's an easy thing to check. Are you using the mic built-into your laptop, or an external mic? If you are using an external mic, please tell us about your setu...

Re: Microphone Compatibility
I am thinking of ordering a USB mic for recording guitar. Can you recommend one good with Audacity for low end budget? I can't recommend a particular mic, but get a Studio Style USB Mic (AKA Podcast mic). These generally run from $100 to $300 USD although some are under $100. This may not seem &quo...

Re: Audio files scrambled; project missing
it did not give me a recovery option If there is no recovery that means there is no AUTOSAVE file or it is corrupted. You could look in Users<your user name>AppDataRoamingAudacityAutoSave to check. You may have to show hidden files and folders . I was able to find the file in my documents using the...

Re: Orphans Abounding
It happened again with a new project! But it doesn't happen for us (usually). Do you remember the steps you took in that project? Was it a recording, or an imported WAV file? Did you do copy, paste or something else in that project? Did you close and reopen the project without closing Audacity? Did...

Audio files scrambled; project missing
I recently recorded and hour-long podcast and was nearly done editing when Audacity crashed. Unfortunately, it was hung up so long (over an hour) that I needed to do a manual exit. When I re-logged into Audacity, it was as though the project was no longer there -- didn't show up under recent files, ...
