Re: Compressor going over threshold rate (-12dB)
Thank you for the replies, I appreciate it. Yes, I did mean "up". Sorry, it's late here and I'm a bit tired. Thanks for clarifying about the threshold. I wanted the peaks to be at -12db because I read online that's the standard for broadcasters and radio presenters. I'm about to normalize ...

Multiple recordings
Hello all, Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I had no idea what search terms to look for. I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to have two different sessions of Audacity recording different sources at the same time on the same machine. I've purchased Virtual Audio Cable, as between ...

Re: Can't unbind shortcut keys (F9 and F10)
Did you try pressing "Defaults" then OK in the Audacity Keyboard Preferences? The current Audacity version is 2.0.6 http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . That version has a much better interface for Keyboard Preferences allowing you to search by key to see if Audacity is using it. Gale

Re: Add page turn sound?
What an interesting question. :) The easiest way I can think of is to find a good quality WAV file of the sound, open it in Audacity, open your project in a separate Audacity and just copy and paste the first in wherever you need it in your project (once you've hit copy on the first, it will remain...

Re: Volume vs Gain?
But if you read some of the sources in the other link, you can find engineers going into detail about how they actually go about it as a deliberate choice, Sure, but I've heard all sorts of abominations holding high the flag of "mastering" ;) But for the time being, I am not afraid to all...

Re: Lost data file but still have recorded tracks
I am having trouble figuring out how to search for a specific time stamp on my computer. I am using my Search function, but even with advanced settings, I see no way to enter a specific time. Search for the file name, not the date modified (though it's easy enough to search for date modified): How ...

Re: GSnap vst plugin is not shown in effects
GSnap 32-bit appears in Audacity in our computers too.
Search your computer for GSnap.dll. Delete all copies of it, except the 32-bit version extracted from the ZIP file in the link I gave.

record from system audio AND mic
I'm trying to record a podcast, and need to record system volume (other people in the podcast) AND the mic (myself). I'm running Linux (Cruton on a Chromebook). I know very little about Linux, I know it's "Trusty" if that matters. I have Audacity installed and PulseAudio. I can get it to r...
