Re: Recovering crashed project
Here it is! Is the project still open now with only the track names and no audio? The basic problem is that the AU files in C:UsersTonyDesktopTHORTHOR final_data are nothing to do with the AU files listed in the AUTOSAVE file. I checked twelve files listed in the AUTOSAVE and none of them are in th...

Re: File size of single WAV vs. sum of 2 WAVs after splittin
My guess is that it is due to headers. I've never looked into this because a couple of hundred bytes is insignificant compared to hundreds of millions. If you are interested in perusing this you could open the files in a Hex editor (search on line for a free one if you don't already have one). WAV i...

Creative Sound Blaster ZxR Optical s/pDIF Surround Recording
I'm recording my xbox 360 game play sound and possibly some OTA Antenna receiver Dolby 5.1 Surround through a Toslink optical cable input on the daughter card of the SB ZxR sound card. I'm using an Intel Core i7 2600 in an Asus p8p67 deluxe running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 using the Creative Labs Soun...

Re: Deleting the FFMPEG Audacity plugin from computer.
As can be seen from the description, I am not the most tech savvy user here. I downloaded the FFMPEG plugin for Audacity to export (and import?) ALAC and AAC files. Just because I want to be in control of what gets stored on my system, I want to know how to delete the plugin. I have no concrete rea...
Re: INTERFACE
There is a thing called a Control Surface which has programmable switches, knobs, and sliders to interface with your audio hardware. But, they tend to be expensive and I have no idea if they can be used with Audacity. They can't if they use MIDI control as most do - only if they use key strokes. Se...

Re: USB Input Level Too High – Need help!
There is one known oddity. Plug in everything and power it all up and then start Audacity. Doesn't work backwards unless you explicitly tell audacity to search for a USB connection with Transport > Rescan. Audacity gets the show from Windows, so if Windows can't find the PhonoPre, this isn't going ...

Re: audacity 2.1.0 + xp sp3 error
So, do I assume you only now have the one Visual Studio C++ Redistributable Package, that for VS2008? There are various things you can try to fix the 2.1.0 problem but they will get increasingly complicated. :( For example there could be a conflict with other copies of msvcp120.dll and mvscr120.dll ...
