Re: Critical Nyquist Files

Yes, keeping too many files and folders on the Desktop will slow the computer down. Documents (and folders containing documents) should be stored in your Documents folder. Applications (such as Google Earth, which I can see in your third screen shot) should be stored in the Applications folder. Doub...

Re: Critical Nyquist Files

Please tell us what you are trying to achieve right now. If you want to open an Audacity project, do the File > Open... then select the .aup file and "Open." We want to know the exact text of any error message you see when you do that now. That will help us decide if you need to move folde...

Re: New User: Library question

Finder (Spotlight) search excludes system files by default. I wouldn't advise to change the default, as it will become quite slow. If you need to explore the innards of OSX, you need to learn the Terminal, where none of this idiot-proofing exists. The Finder has always been the weakest part of OSX. ...

Re: New User: Library question

I've done some more research and found that /usr is a hidden folder on Macs inaccessible through a standard Finder search. I had to go to the Finder menu in the upper left part of the screen, click Go, click Go to Folder, then type in the location: /usr/local/lib/audacity/libmp3lame.dylib. A new fol...

Perhaps you would remind me where that text is on http://lame.cvs.sourceforge.net. Here in their " recommended user interface for developers including LAME in their apps. " http://lame.sourceforge.net/lame_ui_example.php http://lame.sourceforge.net/images/lame_ui_example.png More recent d...

Re: Recording quality not as good as source

If you want the exact YouTube audio as source, then assuming you have copyright holders' permission to record it in the first place, download the video. Use your favourite search engine to find out how to download YouTube videos. Then extract the audio by dragging the video file into Audacity (assum...

Re: ransomware in Audacity 2.12 installer.

I just tried to install audacity 2.12 with the full Windows 7 installer. Audacity does not supply any "2.12" version nor do we have "full" installers or trials/restricted versions. I would guess you downloaded Audacity from a scam advertisement. If so you should report the adver...

Re: Windows 7 & Audacity 2.1.2

No-one except you is reporting issues. You should not have added entries to PATH. You should remove all paths to FFmpeg from PATH unless other software put them there. As I already said twice now, you can use your ffmpeg.exe and export at the command-line using (external program) . If you tell us ex...

Re: missing data file(s)

The AUP file is a text file and you can open it in any text editor and read it (it's in XML semi-English language). The actual sound should be in the _DATA folder. It's not a file. Audacity writes the AUP file last, so it thinks the _DATA folder is good to go. Search the machine for the name. Did yo...

Re: Windows 7 & Audacity 2.1.2

I completely uninstalled Audacity,FFmpeg,Lame all & removed residual files also through powerful scan & removed programes suspected to have link with ffmpeg like eac3to. Searched for any folder or files named ffmpeg after uninstall.Ensured nothing left over. If you want to use the export co...
