Re: Most basic newbie question(s)...

The first thing I would like to do is excerpt specific clips from an MP3 file, and save them separately. Select/highlight the part you want to save. File -> Export Selected Audio. As a newbie, I didn't know how to make a selection. I found nothing on that topic in a Help Search. After a bit of hack...

We don't help with covert surveillance recordings or recordings that are required for court testimony. Use your favourite search engine to look for "audio forensics" and contact your solicitor and law enforcement if you have concerns.

Re: Most basic newbie question(s)...

Hi Koz, Thank you for your helpful reply! I don't think Audacity has a simple mode any more. I'll muddle through in Complex Mode. Actually, my bigger concern is the very basic Help, with dubious Search functionality. But at the price, I'm not complaining. :P What's the job. Sometimes that will give ...

Re: Sound crackles terribly

I think you need to reduce the (acoustic) volume or move the microphone further away. Or, upgrade to a Studio-style USB mic or get a stage/studio mic and an audio interface . (An audio interface won't work with a "computer mic".) You've got two problems - The normal clipping (distortion) o...

Re: How do I 'gradiated' ducking and 'reverse' ducking?

Thanks for the replies. Um, Audacity does do that - do you have an old version? See Real-time preview of effects . It is true you can't apply effects while recording. Thank you, though I believe the article confirms what I said: Audacity only allows real-time Phaser, SC4 and Wahwah - not EQ . So if ...

Re: Stereo Issue

I made up my mind to read the entire Audacity tutorial, to learn as much as possible (including the above) so not to pester you with every issue, but that box comes up which demands the selection of other search engines (msn or Bing) before allowing you to proceed (and no way I'm doing that). That ...

Re: auto monitoring on start up?

You can look for a "real time VST host" which would support a variety of VST plug-ins. But, I don't know what you'll find for Linux. ...I found a couple of possibilities on this page (about half way down the page, or search the page for "Linux"). Or, you can buy a compressor for ...

Re: Stereo Issue

Hey, Steve.... Just wanted to thank you again for your advice regarding splitting the stereo track into two mono's so the audio playback will show up in both ears. Works great, so thanks very much. One other question: When I open a second track and try to record on that, no audio comes from the firs...

Single File Into Individual Tracks - Track Length Too Long

Windows 10 Audacity 2.1.1 I couldn't find this issue after a quick search, I apologize if it is repetitive to a previous entry. I've recorded a long audio file (~60 minutes), and added Labels at Selection (CTRL+B). Unfortunately, when I Export Multiple and ask it to "Split Based on Labels"...
