Re: Recording no longer starts until sound starts

I don't know what the solution is but that might be normal... I've seen this problem reported before... Just doing a quick search I found this on a Microsoft programming-related website: Another oddity is that WASAPI will only push data down to the render endpoint when there are active streams. When...

Re: Recording Level Too High

If you have a headphone output that should work. Headphone level is approximately the same as line-level (with the ability to drive lower impedance headphones), and it has a volume control. The quality should be about the same... Better if you're not clipping your soundcard! Or, you can get an in-li...

Re: OS related: real time output channel monitoring

That would be a "meter". Traditionally, that would have been a VU meter . Now they are usually LEDs or some kind of digital display and they are calibrated to show the peaks (which is different from a true VU meter). Still, sometimes they are called "VU meters". The easiest thin...

Re: I'm new to this. Could you help me improve my recordings

My greatest issue right now is that my bass sounds too boomy and it seems to reverberate ... There's not much can be done in post-production to reduce the reverberation of the room. One solution is to use heavy-curtain / blanket / rug to block your voice bouncing off the walls getting to the microp...

Re: Compiling Audacity with Asio

Hi All, I've successfully compiled using VS2013 on Win7 a zipped source files of Audacity 2.1.3 with including wxWidgets from https://github.com/audacity/wxWidgets/archive/audacity-fixes.zip and ASIO SDK. It starts well, recognizes ASIO host and asio4all v2 devices. SO it still can be done. However,...

Re: recording second track-- only records during quiet parts

I'm pretty sure Audacity isn't doing this... I second that. audacity screenshot 1.png "Part 1" is ducking/gating the second track in real-time. Audacity 2.0.6, recording through Audiobox iTwo thru Windows 10. The Audiobox device, which the microphone is plugged into, is also fed the sound...
