... at a time. 1.2 projects can be opened in 1.3 but 1.3 projects can't be opened in 1.2. In order to import a WMV or flv file, you will also need the ffmpeg library, which you can get from the link on this page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg ...

Re: Export into MP3...blank play back

... menu > Preferences > Quality). Record, import or generate some sound - check that it plays back, then Export as MP3 (use the MP3 preset, not the FFmpeg option). Does that work? I would also recommend updating to Audacity 1.3.11 because there is an Export bug in 1.3.10 that has now been fixed. ...

Re: 1.3.10 import issue

Audacity is probably using ffmpeg to import the RAW files. There's a long discussion going on between the developers regarding ffmpeg. FFmpeg is a third party library (not made by the Audacity team) and from what I can gather, the people ...

M4A tags are not exported

When I export a selection to a M4A (AAC) file (FFmpeg), the tag data that I entered into the template is not included in the exported audio file. It works for MP3 files, but not for M4A files. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a problem with the sofware?

... possible to configure Windows Media Player to rip CDs as WAV, but I'd still go with C-Dex. Audacity 1.3 can import WMA files if you install ffmpeg. Unfortunately there is a small bug in Audacity 1.3.10, but you can get 1.3.11 (in which the bug is fixed) from here http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Nightly_Builds ...

...Choosing File > Import > Audio in 1.3.10 did not open an option to choose "FFmpeg-compatible files", but dragging the WAV file into Audacity opened it and allowed me to edit and export it as an MP3 file. There isn't a separate window or Options button. ...

Re: Audacity is not opening music correctly

... with another program. I don't think Audacity has ever claimed to be a good file format converter. However, if you use Audacity 1.3 and have ffmpeg installed, Audacity can support import and export of many more file types (including WMA, but not if they are copy protected).

Re: ffmpeg won't install

You say you have successfully downloaded and located the Lame encoder. Is the ffmpeg library (avformat-52.dll) in the same folder as the Lame library (lame_enc.dll)? It doesn't have to be, but if Audacity can find the Lame encoder in that folder, it should also ...
