hi. i am on arch and install audacity by yaourt -S audacity version:Audacity ® 1.3.11-beta (Unicode) but,now it can not load ffmpeg library(libavformat.so.52) first,i install ffmpeg from AUR,and not work.so i download ffmpeg source and ./configure --enable-shared to compile it still ...

I guess there's not much hope that it's going to make the cut for the final 1.3.12 release? It may still make it - it is currently being worked on. Keep your fingers crossed. ... you can import directly into Audacity. 2. WMP 10 will not support WAV, but will allow you to rip to a WMA file. So why does Audacity not support this file format. Just because it is Apple? It says that ffmpeg is supposed to import this kind of files.

Will installing extra codecs help? I do have quicktime already installed on my machine.

... Quality goes downhill fast when you jump between multiple compression formats. They're fine for note-taking, lectures, etc. I'm surprised that FFMpeg couldn't figure out what the file was. I'm pretty sure it speaks AAC. Koz

... try AAC instead of MP3. Anybody with an iPhone, an iPod or a Mac can play those. You can get iTunes to create those or you might be able to get FFMpeg to do it in Audacity 1.3.11. Koz
