.CWP files are not supported by FFMpeg.
These are "Cakewalk Project" files, and as far as I'm aware they are only supported by Cakewalk/Sonar products.

If you have installed ffmpeg correctly, then when you click Edit > Preferences > Libraries, you will see the ffmpeg library version number in the preferences window. Having said that, I'm not sure whether .cwp is supported. It doesn't ...

I have lost access to my SONAR program because I can't migrate it to my new computer. I want to switch to Audacity but it doesn't seem that FFmpeg has .cwp support. Or else I am not using FFmpeg right. My understanding is that you just download it, tell Audacity where the 'library' is, Done ...

It's a bit of a pain for us Linux users - you need to use a VERY up to date version of FFMPEG.
Try using a subversion snapshot from here: http://ffmpeg.org/download.html

If you use Audacity 1.3 you can install FFMpeg which enables Audacity to support several additional file formats.
