Thanks again aardvark2zz. It looks like Audacity was latching onto an old version of FFMpeg instead of the new one. Are you saying that all of those files were in the Audacity folder?

... What directory ? After uninstall I didn't see any (I would have deleted them anyway) !! But what intrigued me, before uninstall, was a very small ffmpeg.exe file (<20KB) in the directory. I believe it was .exe. That looked very unusual !? After uninstall I moved the remaining files and directory ...

It would be really interesting to know which file was causing the problem.
Did you delete the "audacity.cfg" file?
Any chance that you could mess it up again and so find out exactly which file? (OK, I guess not ).

I FINALLY solved the problem :-) ouuuuuffff I uninstalled FFmpeg__for_Audacity_on_Windows, I uninstalled Audacity I especially removed all the remaining files in the Audacity directories.
