... doesn't recognize, and Audacity doesn't recognize a lot -- particularly in Audacity 1.2. If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 and install lame and FFMpeg, then you have a much better chance at opening and converting sound files. Much better to use a stand-alone converter. Koz

If you don't have admin privileges, how did you get Audacity to work? The latest lame, for example, that I know of won't install without admin.

I have now downloaded the FFmpeg installer and the same problem persists. I also tried to convert it to a WAV file using AVS software but it came out as a AU format sound file (what is that?) Any further ideas anybody? Thanks Audacity ...
