Yes I can edit without any problem another type of files like mp3.
I am not sure about FFmpeg, probaby that is the problem.
Any way, which is the best quality sound type of file that I can extract from a film, and how can I do it with VirtualDubMod ?

Does you laptop have ffMPEG installed?

It's probably an iTunes file or a WMA file from WIndows Media Player. Audacity 1.2 can't open those. Convert the file to WAV in iTunes or SUPER, or install Audacity Beta and FFmpeg. Details are in this Frequently Asked Question.
