... audio to the original file format such as AC3. You can convert the demuxed format to WAV in lots of free tools like SUPER . Alternatively install FFmpeg then you can import the demuxed file into Audacity and edit it if desired then export it as WAV. Gale

... but messes with you if you have compressed format originals. The compression and it's damage doubles. That and you need Audacity 1.3.12 and FFMpeg to natively recognize those types of files at all. That could be why Audacity applied Amplify wrong. It didn't really know what it was doing. ...

Thanks for the sample file - it imports fine with Audacity 1.3.13 on Windows 7 using FFmpeg 0.5. Is the Audacity 1.3.12 from the ArchLinux repository or have you compiled the Audacity 1.3.12 source tarball using these workarounds for SVN FFmpeg? I don't really understand ...

Try upgrading to the 1.3.12 version and then install FFMpeg.

Administrator, 'root', and koz with administrator privileges are not the same. Apple suggests strongly that if you don't need a root account that you leave it out.
