... at the top of the first tab, then some additional "Build Information", including a date, at the bottom of the second tab). Do you have FFmpeg installed? If so, which version and where did you get it from? I'll see if I can get a second opinion on this.

Re: can not import audio files
First problem was that I seemingly removed too much of Ubuntu FFmpeg - I reinstalled it using Synaptic but when I configured the Audacity build --with-ffmpeg=system there was a configure error that said there was no system library. It is very easy to install ...

Re: Error Importing
Looks like FFMpeg (library) does not like any Olympus WMA files.
WMA should be WMA. If Windows Player recognizes it, it should be valid.
"SUPER" from 2007 is not free anymore.
Is there any other FREE conversion programs out there ?

... when in fact it was using a different version. I think this will be apparent if you look at Help > Show Log. I suspect audacity.cfg has a path to FFmpeg which it falls back to when you unsuccessfully try to load some other version. Better to initialise .cfg to test this. Gale

Re: can not import audio files
However your F,C,U numbers are the same as those of the Ubuntu version of FFmpeg. I was just starting to suspect that. FFmpeg takes a bit more to remove than most applications. I've finally got it fully removed, and can now confirm that the nightly version is ...
