Re: 1.3.12 beta problem finding/loading ffmpeg dll

I assume you downloaded and installed Audacity following:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... Ins#ffdown

Please start Audacity again, try to locate FFmpeg in Preferences then open Help > Show Log and copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Re: I cannot import audio wma

for Ubuntu 10, you can just install Audacity and FFmpeg from Synaptic.
That will install Audacity 1.3.12 and a compatible version of FFmpeg.
You will probably need to have the "Restricted" repository enabled.

... AAC MP4.... are not supported and will sound like an accelerated chipmunk. Audacity 1.3.12 can support many more file types if you also install FFmpeg. see these links: http://audacityteam.org/download/ http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg

Re: Beyond 2 channel-Using Audacity for Surround Sound?

Ok I got ffmpeg working (I had 0.6 and audacity only works with 0.5). I can now successfully import the 48 and 96 files into audacity. The 44 one still fails of course because audacity thinks it's a stereo wav file, which is not. ...

... I open the two other files they are recognized as a different format, which actually fails to open with audacity complaining about me not having ffmpeg installed (might be true :) ).

Re: Static pops at the end of Audacity-edited WAV files

... an iTunes user I'd recommend that you use iTunes to encode WAV files to AAC rather than using Audacity. In Audacity AAC encoding is provided by FFmpeg and AAC encoding in FFmpeg is still experimental. If a file ends abruptly you may get a "click" at the end of the file. To avoid this, ...

... for lossless ALAC encoding. Current versions of Audacity 1.3 (Beta) can export directly to M4A (AAC, but not ALAC) by installing the optional FFmpeg library. If you are exporting an AAC file for mobile devices, you can change the M4A extension after the filename and dot to M4R or 3GP as required ...
