Re: duuuuumb beginner question
Audacity 1.2 does not support WMA files. You need Audacity 1.3.12 and FFMpeg. (see links below) http://audacityteam.org/download/ http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg If the problem with no sound persists ...

Re: Audacity can't find ffmpeg and lame files
I'm wondering if a non-administrator user can install lame and FFMpeg at all. It's not normal for you to have to go through all that grief to get lame and FFMpeg working. That's one reason they come with an installer instead of just dumping the files in ...

Re: How do I put 2 songs on audacity?
One more point. You should start using Audacity 1.3.12.
http://audacityteam.org/download/
Audacity 1.2 is no longer supported, updated, or patched.
Also, if your songs start playing at funny speeds, you may need "lame" and "FFMpeg" software packages from the same place.

Re: Audacity can't find ffmpeg and lame files
... inspired me to press on. Here's my HOW TO document to fix what I found: Problem: No matter how many times one tries installations or re-downloads, FFMPEG cannot be located by Audacity. Reason: FFMPEG really wants to be loaded in a specific place, namely, the /usr/local/lib/audacity/ folder – and ...

... than "record" it. There are several Add-Ons for Firefox that allow YouTube videos to be downloaded. If you install Audacity 1.3.12 and FFMpeg you will be able to import the audio from downloaded YouTube MP4 files into Audacity. To get a "normal" audio file from Audacity you ...

Re: Imported music is always a high-pitched, scratchy sound
You are trying to manage music that Audacity doesn't recognize. If you really do have Audacity 1.3.12, then download and install FFMpeg from here.
http://audacityteam.org/download/
That will allow Audacity to use many more different file types.

Re: how to import WAV file
Unfortunately Microsoft keep bringing out different versions of WMA, and FFmpeg does not yet support all versions. If FFmpeg cannot convert the file you will need to use a third party format converter to convert them to a supported format (I would recommend ...

Re: Audacity not recognising VOX
I have installed the FFMpeg software, and still have the same issue, trying to open a vox file using Audacity results in a message saying that Audacity doesn't recognise files of type VOX

Re: Audacity not recognising VOX
Did you try installing the FFMpeg software? That's the grab-bag software that will manage many different sound file formats. Get it from the same place you got your Audacity.
