... time. Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3. If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software from the same web site. Do not use older software or software from other web sites, even though they may have the same names. Koz

I am running OS X and installed 1.3.13 from an administrative account but NOT the primary admin account on the computer. I then installed the FFmpeg plugin. The installer completed successfully. I did all of this from my secondary admin account on the computer. When I try to export an m4a file ...

It's not FFMpeg that manages MP3. It's lame.
In Audacity 1.3, you can set the bit rate at the export step. In Audacity 1.2, you have to set it in Audacity Preferences before you export.

different bit rates when saving Mp3 files
I'm using the 1.3 beta version.
I downloaded the FFmpeg plug in to save my music files as Mp3's. It saved them just fine but at 128 kbs. I was wondering if it's possible to save at a higher (or lower) bit rate. I can not figure out where to do this.
