... one of the other compressed music types. You should try "importing" the file rather than opening it and you might need to install the FFMpeg software before you try it again. http://audacityteam.org/download/ http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows Also, many if not all menu ...

Re: no export as mp3 option
Yes. The lame software changed a bit between versions, so you should go back up to the Audacity Download page and get the new lame -- and FFMpeg if you want that. http://audacityteam.org/download/ WAV is uncompressed and undamaged -- and very large. This is the format you want if you are going ...

Re: Stereo File to Mono (Let me explain)
Maybe Audacity just doesn't understand the file type. Do you have FFMpeg installed? FFMpeg is the software package that lets Audacity manage all the modern sound file formats. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Now you know why most people go for the analog ...

... it will import into Audacity. If Audacity cannot open it or it opens it as a 5 second squeak, then you will need to install Audacity 1.3.14 and FFMpeg. Re: Crash after connecting USB mic
Hi, Thanks for looking into this. I did upgrade to 1.3.14 and implemented suggested folder structure. Alas, still same problem. See dump below. Frans Process: Audacity [44031] Path: /Applications/Audacity/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity Identifier: net.sourceforge.audacity Version: 1.3.14.0 (1....

Crash after connecting USB mic
Hi, When I connect a USB mic when Audacity is already running I get a crash one I try to use that mic. This can be avoided by Transport / Rescan Audio Devices. But I often forget to do that. Is it possible to make Audacity more robust and either perform rescan automatically or give me a decent messa...

Re: Importing More than a Second
... best bet is to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.14 here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac then try again. You will probably also want to install FFMpeg as this allows Audacity to support import/export of many more types of audio files. http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg

... Garageband, and it worked! Go figure. I will make copious notes so that I remember these steps next time! Excellent. If the last used "Custom FFmpeg Export" settings work for you, you only need to select that choice, type the file name and .mp3 and save. I just did not want you to have ...

... . Please tell us how far you have got, what you don't understand and what version of Windows you are using. Have you installed FFmpeg, if so, where to? Also is it 64-bit Windows? (to find out, right-click over My Computer or Computer, choose Properties and look if it says 64-bit). ...
