Re: No wave form from imported mp3

... if that might be the issue and if there was a solution. The work computer runs WIndows XP, and I have no problem there. BTW, I did download the FFMpeg package right after I downloaded Audacity 2.0.

Re: No wave form from imported mp3

If the files turn out to be Something Magic, you may decide to download and install the FFMpeg package. FFMpeg allows Audacity to manage many more different files than it can by itself.

Availability of Audacity 2 deb package for Ubuntu

Having learned on this forum that the reason I cannot export a selection to any form of ffmpeg is because of a bug in the Ubuntu build of Audacity 1.3.13, I wonder if anybody has a deb of Audacity 2 that will install under Ubuntu? Having loooked at the procedure for ...

Yet another command line request --> Sound finder.

... have been completed, but I'm stuck at the audio -> code part. After trying SoX's .dat output, their "stat" function, as well as ffmpeg's "silencedetect", I found out about audacity's "Sound finder" function (Though I've been using audacity for years). compared ...

... to load it into Audacity. That never works. Internally the file is an AAC, but Audacity thinks its an MP3, thus it is not decoded properly. Once FFmpeg is loaded you can import AAC files (usually M4A). -- Bill

Re: Playback is way too fast. MP3.

... help! I've loaded the file into Quicktime player and it shows Format as AAC, 2 channels, 44100 Hz. I guess that's not mp3? Okay I've installed the FFmpeg extensions. So inside Audacity, Preferences, Libraries, the FFmpeg Library Version appears as F(52.64.2),C(52.72.2),U(50,15.1) I don't know what ...

Re: Playback is way too fast. MP3.

The file you are importing probably isn't an MP3. Install the FFmpeg extensions as explained here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... Ins#ffdown

If you open the file in QuickTime Player then do a Get Info on it, what does it tell you?

Re: [2.0.0/Win] Extracting sound from SWF file?

The best you can do is install the FFMpeg software. That allows Audacity to recognize and process a very wide range of content, however, if VLC couldn't deal with it, that's not a good sign.
