Re: Need help creating file with this output format
Producing the headerless raw files would, I think, be a case of trial and error, and I'm not sure if Audacity can do it, even with "Custom FFmpeg Export". You can do that by selecting "Other uncompressed files > RAW > uLaw", however I'd recommend trying the "WAV (Microsoft) ...

Re: Can Audacity work with linked files?
... It will always work. No proprietary or weird formats like SoundStudio produced. Glad that Max was able to do the job. Since Max uses the same FFmpeg libraries as Audacity I'm surprised Audacity was not able to do it. Audacity's ability to link to WAV and AIF files is (IMO) mainly a boon to ...

... with audio. Yes, it uses a lot of space but you now have two copies of your audio - inside Audacity and in the FLAC files. Have you installed the FFmpeg extension? It may be able to open those Apple Lossless 4-track files. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#ffdown ...

Lame and FFMpeg, need both?
I installed Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe for Audacity 2.0. Do I also need to install FFmpeg_v0.6.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe? On the download site, http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/ , it looks sort of like Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe includes both.
Thanks for your help
