I asssume you can play the MP3 on your computer? If FFMPEG doesn't work... Try using a different program to convert your MP3 to WAV . (Its an extra step for you, but there is no harm in converting to uncompressed WAV, since Audacity is going to decompress ...

Yes. But if it didn't come in, it wasn't an MP3. You can install the FFMpeg software and Audacity will recognize many more modern sound formats.

Gale, thank you. I cleared the cache and downloaded the .zip version. When I click on the .exe file, a blank black dialogue box flashes on and off? Do I need to move the files to the program Audacity?

You may be able to simply open the audio/video file in Audacity to get the audio. You'll probably need to install the FFMPEG Import/Export library, which you can get from the download page . However, if you want to get the new-edited & saved (exported) audio back into the audio/video ...
