We only link to one "recommended" download site, the one listed on http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown .

To import WMA files you need to have FFmpeg installed. See here for instructions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown

Re: Keep losing ability to import m4a/mpeg-4 files

... for the prompt replies. I'm not sure what was going on yesterday - either I was in a temporary moron state and kept clicking on the wrong link (FFmpeg/Lame) or somehow the file wasn't downloading. I'm quite certain at least a couple of times I was clicking on the 'FFmpeg_v0.6.2_for_Audacity' ...

Re: Audacity??????

I dunno... I can open & save/export WMA files...

Have you installed the optional FFMPEG library? (I'm not sure if that's required to open WMAs, but I have it installed and it's working for me.)

Is there any chance your WMA file is copy protected? Where did it come from?

Ffmpeg options to create WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM

I usually use Audacity to create file with format WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM.
Now, I have many input audios that I want to convert to the above format.
I wonder whether there is a ffmpeg command with specific options to do convert to that format?

FFmpeg library not found

Hello - I have audacity 2.0.5 running on a mac server - as root or admin - my instance sees the ffmpeg library - as a logged in user it doesn't not.

Any suggestions on how the root / admin user can share the privs system wide with others? Am happy to post log entries from audacity if needed. Cheers.

Re: mp4a (from iTunes) to mp3

Have you installed the optional FFmpeg library? This is necessary if you want to import any kind of video file into Audacity or to import an AAC audio file that may have MP4 or M4A extension. Here are the instructions to install FFmpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown ...
