Audacity could not read its default theme

This problem has occurred both with 2.0.5 and svn 13081. Am building from source in a BLFS-7.4 environment, with --disable-ffmpeg (my ffmpeg version is too new, apparently). Linux kernel is 3.13.3. After the dialog box containing the error (subject line; also tells me to report the ...

Re: How do I listen to a .caf file on audacity

If iPad created the CAF file it probably contains AAC audio. If so, install FFmpeg ( http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown ) then Audacity should import the file.

Re: Preferences: Libraries buttons grayed out

I should add that Audacity won't compile against higher than FFmpeg 0.8. If you already have a later FFmpeg version than that, it may be simpler just to use FFmpeg at the command-line to convert the M4A file to WAV for usage in Audacity. ffmpeg -i filename.m4a ...

Re: Preferences: Libraries buttons grayed out

... The M4A extension is correct for a file containing AAC audio. Thanks for the screenshot which makes clear that the Audacity build does not have FFmpeg support compiled in (but can export MP3 files). This is the penalty of using unstable releases of distros. If you must use "Jessie" ...
