It seems there is a problem because Audacity supports old FFmpeg and does not compile against libav which comes with latest distributions. There is a bug report which is was reported almost 2 years ago: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacity/+bug/1076928 ...

I'm using Audacity 2.0.5. and I have the ffmpeg installed. I cannot open any file, I just get a message saying I should open it raw when I try to open it normally. When I do try to open it raw, all I get for audio are large, sustaining bleeps. ...

Cannot oppen .mogg or .ogg files

Hello. I'm using Audacity 2.0.5. and I have the ffmpeg installed. I cannot open any file, I just get a message saying I should open it raw when I try to open it normally. When I do try to open it raw, all I get for audio are large, sustaining bleeps.

Sorta.... If you install the FFMpeg software package, Audacity will open the audio portions of many video formats. Then you can use the Overdubbing tools and listen to the original track to know when to talk. No video. Sorry. The hard part ...

I'm using version 2.0.5 of Audacity, and I was wondering if it is possible to batch export to AC3 (with FFMPEG). Now I'm able to export to AC3 per file, but I have a bunch of files which I should process and export to AC3. I don't see any ExportAC3 command in the edit chains ...

Using Homebrew , I've installed ffmpeg lib which includes lame . The required .dylib is definitely under /usr/local/Cellar/lame/ , yet Audacity somehow can't load the file and still says MP3 export library not found What am I doing wrong? ...

... this configuration. Alternately, start a fresh Audacity and open the tone. Does that work? What do you have to do to play the tone? Do you have FFMpeg installed? FFMpeg software is required to manage many advanced compression sound formats. I can't think of anything else. Koz
