Audacity 2.0.5 on Mint 17 is built without FFmpeg support.

FFMpeg appears to not support Core Audio Files.

If you have QuickTime Pro, it might let you convert in that. Some QuickTime versions didn't matter whether you had Pro or not and it would work.
