I think that the 2.0.6 alpha needs different FFmpeg libraries, e.g. aformat55.dll. See the locate dialog title--under preferences/libraries/FFmpeg). They are not yet prepared/available for Audacity. Gale should know that precisely. yeah... i have ...

... the best approach is to digitally extract the audio. For many file types, Audacity can do this by importing the file IF a suitable version of FFMpeg is installed, (which I don't think is possible on the latest version of Ubuntu or Mint). Other applications are able to extract audio from video ...

I exported as MS ADPCM and noticed some distortion. However using ffmpeg it was fine. Also audacity IMA ADPCM seems to work fine

... file which should be the plug-in. ( I didn't try installing the plug-in.) * Audacity can open some compressed audio formats, and with the optional FFMPEG library it can open MOST compressed audio formats. But, RAR is NOT an audio format.

The data folder has the correct name and there are no permission restrictions on the folder. In the Log at Audacity this was reported: Failed to load FFmpeg libraries
