Re: Windows 7 - Audacity 2.0.4 - cannot find FFmpeg

I think the first thing I would do is cast off Audacity 2.0.4. Get Audacity 2.0.6 from here.

http://audacityteam.org/download/windows

During the installer, it will ask you if you want to reset Audacity as well as reinstall. Say yes.

... that you have wxWidgets (libwxgtk) 2.8.x - preferably version 2.8.12, including the development headers (may be called "dev" packages). FFmpeg can be problematic so I would strongly recommend that, for your initial build, you compile without FFmpeg support ./configure --without-ffmpeg ...

Re: Audacity 2.0.6 damages 2.0.5 but not 2.0.3

As you'll know, 2.0.6 requires a later version of FFmpeg than 2.0.5.
I do now.

Re: Audacity 2.0.6 damages 2.0.5 but not 2.0.3

Thanks for the report . As you'll know, 2.0.6 requires a later version of FFmpeg than 2.0.5. Audacity has been fixed so that if you run 2.0.6 or later after 2.0.5, the incompatible version of FFmpeg that was configured for 2.0.5 won't cause Audacity to freeze. ...

Re: loading WMA files

Audacity will import several common sound file formats, but to greatly expand the list, load the FFMpeg software (scroll down).

Re: ffmpeg library loading logic needs to be updated

If you read http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown you can see that the supported FFmpeg version is 2.2.2. I know that 2.2.3 should also work and the Manual for the next release of Audacity (2.1.0) will say that. Any version of FFmpeg is accepted ...

ffmpeg library loading logic needs to be updated

Using Audacity 2.0.6 on Windows 7 SP1 x64. Wasted a lot of time trying to get it to accept ffmpeg-2.5.2-win32-shared package containing avformat-56.dll. I could browse to the DLL, select it, and click OK, but the message in the window remained "FFmpeg not found". ...
