Re: Problem locating recording

Thought maybe this would shed some light That just says that you do not have a compatible version of FFmpeg installed. FFmpeg is optional - it allows Audacity to import and export a wider range of file types but is not required for Audacity to run. I can't seem to find the ...

Re: Very poor sound quality on export to M4A

Thank you everyone for your replies. The option of converting into AAC using iTunes does the job. I also tried the custom FFmpeg export but could not get the resulting file to play - probably my lack of knowledge of what to put within the options available. I'll stick with the iTunes ...

Re: How do you go back a version to libformat.so.53?

At this point we need the information requested in the pink box above. Where did you get Audacity and how did you install it? FFmpeg is a problem on Ubuntu because it is no longer in their official repository (they have switched from FFmpeg to libav). The easiest solution is likely to ...

Re: How do you go back a version to libformat.so.53?

That error is not related to FFmpeg.

What has happened is that the recording has stalled as soon as you started recording.
What are you trying to record and what equipment are you using?
Are your speakers really connected via S/PDIF?

How do you go back a version to libformat.so.53?

... I have been trying to edit video files. I know that Audacity is an audio DAW, but I recently learned that it was possible to import a file through ffmpeg and seperate the audio from the video. I followed the Audacity instructions about setting up Audacity so that it would do this. Then I found ...

... say "OK" and it still won't import m4a files (for example). Any ideas? If you have updated to Audacity 2.0.6 you also need to update to FFmpeg 2.2.2 from http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown . If the Libraries Preferences say that the library ...
