... of file is it exactly and what happens? Do you only see a flat line, not blue waves? Or do you see blue waves but you cannot hear the waves? The FFmpeg files (starting with lib) should not be in Audacity's plugins folder. If you put them there you will have to use Audacity's Libraries preferences ...

... (to prevent the audio being a much larger component than the video content). Different video formats can accept different audio formats. You need FFmpeg to export as M4A. If you have more questions I suggest you start a new topic about those specific questions. Gale

... see how much faster that was, but if there is a crash your data is gone. Some day we will make On-Demand Loading available for files imported by FFmpeg, like we do for WAV/AIFF imported without FFmpeg. That would make the actual importing of audio from video files much faster. Gale

Finally I recompiled it with static ffmpeg-2.2.14 libraries, and reinstalled ffmpeg-2.6.1.

... i do the same when i try to sort out problems lol..best way to learn... anyway problem sorted ,to check id got a good copy of audacity,lame and ffmpeg i put them on 2 laptops with new versions id downloaded of all 3 and the 1s off my main pc and done some mix and matching and by process of elimination ...

I am using slackware64-current. I compiled audacity from the source code. Before that I uninstalled ffmpeg-2.6.1 and installed ffmpeg-2.2.14. After compiling audacity, I uninstalled ffmpeg-2.2.14, and re-installed ffmpeg-2.6.1, but I kept the libraries of version 2.2.14 ...
