New User: Library question

... Audacity 2.0.5. I am new to audio editing and when I was reading the manual for Audacity, it said that to export as mp3, I had to download Lame or FFMpeg. However, before downloading either I tried to export as mp3 and Audacity allowed me to. When I checked the exported mp3 on vlc media player, ...

Re: Black Banner post Audacity Load

... would provide this type of information (i.e., information about or modify playback of a file). I do have a plugin for 3gp import though Audacity (ffmpeg I think) but this was installed after the black rectangle began to appear. ... search engine to find out how to download YouTube videos. Then extract the audio by dragging the video file into Audacity (assuming you have FFmpeg correctly installed). The only quality setting that will make significant difference to a recording of computer playback is if you record below ...

Lame settings [SOLVED]

Clear install W10 + Audacity 2.1.2
Lame and ffmpeg are imported.
When I do an MP3 export, I find only a standard format option.
Works fine but the problem is that the format is not accepted by my video editing system.
My question: how can I export an MP3 with Lame, like it was before?
Thanks.

Re: WavPack support

For further reference, here is a "fairly accurate" list of formats that can be imported or exported if you install the recommended FFmpeg 2.2.2: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/FFmpe ... tion#table.

Re: Windows 7 & Audacity 2.1.2

No-one except you is reporting issues. You should not have added entries to PATH. You should remove all paths to FFmpeg from PATH unless other software put them there. As I already said twice now, you can use your ffmpeg.exe and export at the command-line using (external program) ...

Re: WavPack support

Audacity can import WavPack files if you install FFmpeg (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown)
For exporting lossless compressed files, you could use FLAC - the compression ratio and encoding / decoding speeds are similar and both are lossless.

Re: Normalizing files in batch mode

a process would be well established by now
We can put a man on the moon....
It would seem I will need to modify some shell scripts I have collected, mostly using ffmpeg, to do this.
