Importing mov files take a very long time

First, the tech: MacMini on El Capitan 10.11.4 (2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 w/8GB RAM). Audacity 2.1.1 I installed FFMPEG-mac-2.2.2 a while ago and haven't had issues until recently. The problem: Drag-and-drop .mov files into a new Audacity project are taking an extremely long time ...

... then the project should open. Thanks for the log. That looks normal for the project error you state and normal assuming you have not installed FFmpeg. Gale

Re: Audacity Project and File Handles

Thanks Steve, Gale et.al, I think the FFMPEG stuff is probably the culprit here, as well as the functionality for Undo's. I recognize that we are using Audacity in a different way (as in our input files are being force fed into Audacity), and ...

Re: Audacity Project and File Handles

From version 2.0.6 onwards when we updated Audacity to use a later version of FFmpeg, Audacity keeps a handle open on files imported using the FFmpeg importer. FFmpeg is not the reason for your issue if you see the warning about importing uncompressed files when ...

Re: Windows 7 & Audacity 2.1.2

The latest Zeranoe builds listed at https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ are too recent for loading from Audacity's Libraries Preferences. You can export 5.1 AC3 from Audacity if you choose (external program) and point the export command to the ffmpeg.exe ...

Re: Silent files that cannot recover

... Apple support and ask for help. I do have the show log, but all it has are errors with it when it loads up. If they are errors about LAME and FFmpeg they are not relevant. Feel free to attach the log if you want, but if the files are silenced there is nothing you can do. Gale

Re: Windows 7 & Audacity 2.1.2
