... terms) in Audacity. I've thought about a lock on imported files myself. But we've had regular complaints on Windows after we updated to use FFmpeg 2.2.2 that after importing a file using FFmpeg, that file is locked and can't be deleted until you quit Audacity. For some reason I no longer ...

Re: Drag and Drop
Glad to know this. I've been chasing everything in my preferences, updating FFMpeg files, etc. What's the timeframe on the next build likely to be? This is a real crimp in my workflow since I pull a lot of music files in when I make podcasts. Way bigger deal than ...

Re: Handling a very large mp3 file
Audacity can do that if the files aren't MP3. Not all sound files are.
You can install the FFmpeg add-on software to let Audacity open up more different sound file formats.

Re: Question about Audacity on Debian 8
... every other time I've tried (probably at least 10 previous failed builds).. Alternatively you could have configured the Audacity build --without-ffmpeg. Your system FFmpeg (used for importing and exporting extra audio file formats) is later than Audacity officially supports, except for exporting ...

Re: Extracting sound from VCDs
Thank you. I had the latest ffmpeg. It may be a copyright issue. I was able to get Audacity read a file from a VCD.

Re: Drag and Drop
What are you dragging and dropping? If you updated from a very early version of Audacity, it's possible you need to also update your FFMpeg add-on software.

Re: Extracting sound from VCDs
What new version of Audacity are you using? See the pink panel at the top of the page.
If you were using 2.0.5 and earlier and are now using 2.0.6 or later, yes that does need a new version of FFmpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_ ... tml#ffdown.

... format is crystal clear to you and everybody else on earth. The compressed MPEG sound format is "Layer 3." Also known as MP3. Go beat up FFMpeg and see if they still support MPEG1. Did you install FFMpeg into your Audacity? It may still be there. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ ...
