Re: Finding FFmpeg Library

I literally can't thank you enough, of course I went through the classic 2 hours of nonsense to get here! Worked perfectly, thanks again.

Re: Finding FFmpeg Library

No you don't have to uninstall LAME but Audacity isn't using the copy you installed.

Yes, you need FFmpeg to open the M4A.

Re: Finding FFmpeg Library

Well, my goal is to import an Mp4a, edit it, and export it as an Mp3.

So I'll need to uninstall LAME, and then download the ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe, then it should know what to do from there?

Re: Finding FFmpeg Library

... It's now built-into Audacity. (Lame is used for exporting to MP3. It's not needed for importing MP3s and it's not used for any other formats.) FFmpeg normally isn't as difficult as it seems: Download ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe . Double the EXE file to install it, and you should be ready to go.

Finding FFmpeg Library

I know this is probably a redundant issue with this program and add on. I have read many post on this forum on how to fix the issue, and have watched several youtube videos. Anyhow, the problem: Just downloaded Audacity 2.4.2 and Lame 3.99.3 on Windows 10 x64. (Please excuse if i've written any of t...

Where did you find the FFMPEG library compiled for arm64?
I assume that this is so that you can use it on an M1 Mac?
Does this not work? https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/ins ... html#macff

Re: FFmpeg on Audacity for Big Sur 11.0 M1 chip

Where did you find the FFMPEG library compiled for arm64? I am able to build an FFMPEG binary for arm64, but I'm not able to created a dynamically link-able library as required by Audacity to convert file formats.

Re: The age old crackling problem

<snip> Now I'm getting another age-old error "error opening recording device -9999". The log file seems to be complaining that LAME and FFMPEG cannot be found but they are right where they've always been for the past 10 years. <snip> 14:14:29: FFmpeg libraries loaded successfully. As you ...

Issue with MP3 Export in Audacity 2.4.2

... on MacOS Big Sur. As I understand it, the LAME MP3 Export now comes with the Audacity download, so I did not download anything additional save FFMPEG. I've been experiencing a problem at least since LAME came packaged with Audacity. When exporting to MP3 I often get the track preceded by a ...
