Well, you don't need FFmpeg to import a "regular" WAV file.

What do you know about this file? Or, if you don't know anything else, where did it come from?

Or, try opening it with MediaInfo to find out the format details.

I have tried all the way but still I am unable to import the .wav file. Even though I HAVE installed FFmpeg, it still shows "error importing" audacity didn't recognize the type of the file.

... like level gain, noise reduce, and so on - but all I needed it for in this case was embedding the labels as chapters, because Audacity doesn't. ffmpeg -i FILENAME should confirm the file has added chapters. I downloaded MediaInfo to see what you're seeing - MediaInfo does not appear to display ...

That image is showing libmp3lame64bit.dylib, which is the LAME library.
LAME and FFmpeg are different things.

Having this problem as well.

Using Audacity 2.3.1 on MacOS 10.14.4, and confirmed that FFMPEG library properly installed in ~Libraries/Application Support/Audacity/libs (see photo). But still, Audacity claims "FFmpeg library not found" when selected

Damn the box somehow went upside down in transit. Anyway here is what is says.

Try installing FFmpeg for uncompressed files also try file, import, raw data.
