Re: Chris's Dynamic Compressor Won't Enable - Audacity 2.3.0

Thanks. Tried that. The plugin now shoes as New versus Disabled. I Enable it hit OK, it appears to be processing, then I check to see if it worked and it didn't. It doesn't get added to the menu and goes back as a New plugin. I have tried this several times with no luck. I am also seeing the "Audaci...

Re: Chris's Dynamic Compressor Won't Enable - Audacity 2.3.0

Do you have a lot of external plugins enabled? The reason I ask is that one thing we can try is resetting Audacity's plugin registry. You'll have to re-enable your plugins after the reset. To do that, go to: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity In that folder, delete the files: pluginregistry.cfg ...

Chris's Dynamic Compressor Won't Enable - Audacity 2.3.0

I am trying to ENABLE Chris's Dynamic Compressor, but it won't stay enabled.

Effect/Add Remove/Enable. After doing that the plugin doesn't enable and just goes back to be disabled.

Plugin was working fine until I upgraded to 2.3.0.

Running 2.3.0 on Mojave 10.14.

Any thoughts?

Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor

In any event, it's a snap to work around. Make the show longer than it needs to be with "real content" and then chop off any extra later. I did it that way for years by accident and didn't even know about the bug until others complained about it. I am looking for a way to properly normalize human vo...

Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor

I had found that if you adjust the hardness (I think—it's been a while), it wouldn't affect the silences much.

And for clarification, Chris's compressor does not truncate silence. That's something completely separate from compression.

I don't see that with "compress-b1.ny" (from the first post of this topic).
Sorry : I thought it was about Chris Capel's original plugin, (which has problems with true silence).

Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor

1. 'Noise gate falloff' I just leave that at the default setting. 2. Noise level at the beginning and end of the file seems to be greatly amplify after compression. Is there an easy way to fix this? It can sometimes help to add a bit of "padding" at the start / end of the track before applying the ...
