Version 1.2.6 and 1.3.4 (the current versions) have an "Artist" field in the ID3 tag editor. I can't guarantee that it is compatible with iTunes though.

... that is the problem, as "name" in iTunes as far as MP3 is concerned is not the filename but the Title ID3 tag. This is different from WAV or AIFF ... tags before each export (if the tag editor does not appear of its own accord ...
