... your choice... (44.1 kHz is the default) ...and here's a crucial screen : The File Formats settings need discussing at this point. When importing uncompressed audio, there are two ways to do it. Re: vst-bridge crash

Nope. That's not it. I just checked the other machines and they're doing what you're doing. Still, how did you install Audacity? When I uncompressed Audacity, I pulled all the files and folders over to a fresh, new Audacity folder on my desktop and dumped the whole folder into /Applications. ...

Re: How can I change the tempo?

From back to front: An iPod will play anything, but the primary choices are WAV, MP3 and AAC. If you produce a good quality, uncompressed WAV file that you like, you can cause iTunes to convert it to the other two with its import settings. The recommended format is AAC at a high bit ...

Re: new digital voice recorder

... When you rescued the performance to MP3, you may have double-compressed it. That never sounds very good. Try rescuing it to WAV or other uncompressed format and see if that doesn't sound better. If it doesn't, then you win as you are. And yes, uncompressed sound files are much larger ...

Re: Exporting Large .wav files

... to use the higher sample rate, you're limited to either using data compression (mp3s, or ogg vorbis), or splitting the files. There is also an uncompressed format called RF64 that can create much longer files. But Audacity cannot output to that at the moment. Not knowing how you're distributing ...

Re: Special files

Making sure Audacity does not do anything you have not asked it to do: 1) Edit / Preferences / File Formats / Uncompressed Export Format / select the WAV format that is the same as your original file. (There are four different options on my PC in Audacity 1.2.6) 2) Make sure ...

Re: selectin .aiff export

... going to beat up the file pretty badly anyway, so as a practical matter, it doesn't have to be perfect. AIFF and WAV files are both high quality, uncompressed formats and really close cousins to each other. More importantly, WAV is supported on all three platforms (remember, this isn't a Mac program).

... - a recommended read - http://audacityteam.org/help/ WC BTW: don't be confused by WAVs they are just a particular file format for music - they are uncompressed, so no audio data lost - but they are bigger than the compressed MP3 files which are often more suitable for portable MP3 players/iPods ...

Re: Track Editing

... and add effects? Are your hard drives? I understand that your stuff is 4.7MB of work in MP3, but you can't edit in MP3. You have to edit in WAV--uncompressed wav--and suddenly your hard drives aren't big enough. You should be totally loading a short segment and telling us [/u] how it went. The ...
