Re: Me being meticulous over quality loss
... the word "meticulous", there will be a very small loss of quality (I mean, really tiny, and for most purposes insignificant) even with uncompressed data formats such as WAV, Flac and Aiff if the "bit format" is an integer type. Out of all the millions of Audacity users, someone ...

Export > Other Uncompressed Files > Options > Microsoft WAV, 32Float.
You need to be in Audacity 1.3 for anything to work right. Audacity 1.2 is no longer supported.

Re: Is is possible to record directly from Panasonic recorde
... It gives me an "err" message. In the audacity file itself I made sure to select 44100 as the project rate; saved it as "Other uncompressed files" type; and under Options, set header as AIFF and encoding as signed 16 bit. Other settings I chose while making the recording ...

... bit rate of the new file to be the same as the old file? At the moment you can't configure export parameters for any file format in a chain. For uncompressed PCM files like WAV, bit rate = (bit depth) x (sampling rate) x (number of channels). The sample rate ("project rate" bottom left ...

... one - without dither is definitely clearer with a sharper sound. So if I was exporting in 32-bit = the best option would be to select "other uncompressed files" as file type and select the 32-bit float? I'll give you an idea of what I usually do... For most of the audio I edit, the final ...
