And also when exporting, choose "Other uncompressed files", click "Options" then choose "WAV" and "8-bit PCM" (or U-Law or A-Law which are also 8-bit). The exporter defaults to 16-bit WAV if you don't change it.

"File menu > Export"
Select "Other uncompressed files" as the file type.
Click on the "Options" button and select "RAW" as the header and whichever "Encoding" it is that you require.
