First time here...first time question....
Hi. I'm new here, but have been using Audacity for years. I absolutely love it! And, I think I could really enjoy this site, too! Here's my sad tale of woe: A few months ago, I had to do a complete Windows re-install. Grrrr. When it was time to re-install all the miscellaneous software back into my ...

Need Stereo Output Help
Hi, I'm new to the forum but not to audacity. Thank you for helping me with this issue. I want to post a scratch track of my band's rehearsal for others to hear. I used a mini-disc player and a professional mic to record the rehearsal. (Sony MZ-155 MD and an audio-technica Pro 24 condenser mic which...

Re: using 4 track cassette recorders

If i was going to try and import each track seperately though i would try muting all track except one and importing that to audacity, then repeating the process untill all the tracks were in audacity then i would ...

New User Qs
Hi all, Just started using Audacity and I have some questions that I am hoping people can help with. Primarily I am using Audacity with recordings of people's voices / interviews, so with that in mind Is there a way to - Reduce / remove background noise and enhance the sound of the voice Increase vo...

Re: need to increase input volume
Hey Koz: Thanks for your, um, input. While I'm disappointed at what you had to say, I'm glad to know in which direction to go now, which apparently is "get a mic that is compatible with my Mac." My Mac is new, a MacBook purchased in January, and I think manufactured last summer. It is 10.5.2, Leopar...

mixer toolbar
Using XP Home. For some reason, the mixer toolbar has greyed out just when I wanted to record via a microphone. It was OK for the first half-dozen or so sessions recording from LPs. I didn't notice when it first greyed out because everything was going OK. I've tried it with the mic but all I get is ...

Re: Convert OpenMGAudio (OMA - ATRAC3 plus) to .wav
Just wondering: it there more loss that way? Seems like there are several conversions going on: from analog (original sound) to the Sony format, back to analog while playing it, then from that new analog version to Audacity's format. The amount of quality loss will depend on a number of things: The...

Re: Convert OpenMGAudio (OMA - ATRAC3 plus) to .wav
Thanks,it worked. Why didn't I think of that??? I am wondering. We simply took a line out of the mini disc recorder and sent that in to the computer (and Audacity). No problem. Just wondering: it there more loss that way? Seems like there are several conversions going on: from analog (original sound...

input too hot
The input from my standard mixer that works in every other format seems to be too hot for Audacity (not alot, but enough so it's not broadcast quailty). I've turned the input down to 3 & the input is "line in" not microphone. What can be done. This mixer has worked perfectly over the years with mini...
