Re: Delay during recording
It is probably caused by having "software playthrough" selected in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O". Maybe you are right but when I choose "software playthrough" off, I can´t hear what my guitar playes. Could be solution not to connect guitar straight to the computer b...

Re: Muffled recording
I'm somewhat surprised by that "1-2 second delay" - "software playthrough" causes a noticeable delay, but if that is already off then it's a bit of a mystery. It may be worth giving Audacity 1.3 (beta) a go - it's considerably more up to date than 1.2.6.

... amount of time for the audio data to get from the microphone, through all the audio buffers, and back out to the sound card. This results in a delay in the order of half a second, which makes it quite useless for monitoring yourself. I only mention "software playthrough" so that you ...

Re: Delay in recording
Software playthrough always introduces a delay - disable it.
You need to figure out a way to monitor through hardware, not software. How to do this depends on your hardware - most soundcards allow you to set it up in their mixer application (or the Microsoft Windows Mixer).

Re: has anyone tried the new beta?
The 1.3.5 version does fix some bugs, but there is at least one new bug (which the developers are already aware of). 1.3.5 does not fix the delay with the software playthrough, nor will any new version. This delay is unavoidable with software playthrough and can only be resolved by using full ...

Re: Echo in headphones when multi track recording
... sync.I've viewed the help forum on the Windows Mixer, but still unsure if this actually fixes this issue. Software playthrough will ALWAYS cause a delay (hence the echo) and there is no way round that other than switching it off (it is off by default). Using the Windows Mixer to enable hardware ...

Re: play through too slow
Software playthrough will always give a noticeable delay. If you are recording with a conventional PCI or on-board sound card, it is usually possible to set the WINDOWS MIXER so that it will play both the audio playback from Audacity and the audio ...
