... can listen to your old track in one ear and your current performance with the other. Audacity 1.3 allows you to "tune out" the latency delay -- although you still can't listen to both with the same ear. Audacity 1.2 has no latency adjustments. Koz

and i still get that 1 second delay... Switch off "Software Playthrough" - if you're using a recent version of Audacity 1.3 you can switch it off in the Transport menu. In older versions you need to go into Preferences. The downside ...

They don't have Hardware Playthrough. They do have Software Playthrough as noted although you will notice a significant delay between the Mac speakers and the actual performance. That's just the way it is.
