... a USB headset combining mic and headphones, all you can do is turn on software playthrough in the Audacity Preferences. This will have significant delay. A few more expensive USB mics may have a headphone jack you can plug into which will have minimal delay. Gale

Upgrading to 1.3. is recommended , but I don't think it will solve your delay problem ... Note that using a USB microphone is not the best way to record overdubs. These microphones are great for podcasters who just want to record their voice and are not worried ...

If you are listening with Software Playthrough there is nothing you can do about that delay. Instead listen to the output of the mixer and turn off software playthrough.
