Custom "snap to" times possible?

Sorry if this already has been asked a thousand times before but I've used the search function and couldn't find an anwer to this question. In the German forum I get frequently the question how to set the "snap_to" function at the lower border of the Adacity main window to a custom time value. Examp...

Re: Replacement for WMP on Linux?

As a long time Ubuntu user (since 2006), nothing beats VLC! It plays all - tes, get the restricted extras, and also get the Medibuntu repository. That is even more codecs, but of course you must check your applicable laws to determine if it is legal to use, read, open, play, think about or smell the...

Re: Software Playthrough : Troubleshooting

Audacity is an open source program for recording and editing audio. For recording your Instrumental Beats, "Software Playthrough" must be off (not selected). If you are not able to record the Instrumental Beats with Software Playthrough off, then the problem lies elsewhere. To record the Instrumenta...

Re: Metronome

Note: I've moved this from the "Adding Features" board - Gale is there a metronome plug in anywhere? There is a feature at Generate > Click Track you can use which generates an audio track with regular pulse noises. You can select the beats per minute, beats per measure and number of measures. You ...

Re: Tips on mixing hip hop music with audacity?

I can click the quick mix feature and that puts the vocals and beat together Once the tracks have been "put together" (mixed) there are a lot more limitations to what processing you can do. It is generally better to keep the vocals and the beats in separate tracks so that you can process one withou...

Re: How do you get beats to match up

Yes you can, if you don't mind cutting out the cross-fade and making a new cross fade from the remaining (slightly shorter) audio. To make a cross-fade you need to position the two parts that are to be cross-faded on different tracks so that they overlap a bit, then fade one out through the overlap ...

Re: guitar is not recording

I will steal this topic as I have the same problem and I might have more info. Basically when I connect guitar to the Line In of Realtek audio, there definitely is sound. I am able to use PC guitar tuners without any problems. However Audacity doesn't record and when I choose to only monitor it's th...

Re: Frequency Shifting

An mp3 player / computer soundcard probably couldn't produce ultrasound, and even if it could you couldn't hear it whether you were awake or asleep. Here is a plug-in for Audacity which produces audible sounds which allegedly alter ones metal state… According to published research, listening to thes...

Re: Mach5 LightSpeed...??

Thanks again for all your help - I'm very grateful... lol. Yes it's counter-intuitive isn't it, but it makes sense for "Tempo". If you want to increase the tempo of some music from 100 beats per minute to 120 bpm, then that's 20% increase. Fortunately there is also a text input option that allows yo...
