Re: Tempo Version 1.34

Hmm... my Change Tempo dialogue box says "Change Tempo without Changing Pitch" and that's exactly what it does, so whatever is going on it's not a global feature of 1.3.4.

Re: Why does the file size become so large?

..... or you are exporting as MP3, but the default bitrate setting in Audacity is higher than that of the imported file. Audacity isn't exporting the same MP3, it decompresses the file in order to work with it and then creates a new MP3 when exporting, hence the potential for a different filesize.

Re: audacity and windows movie maker

Audacity is compatible with Windows Movie Maker, in so far as the latter will import several audio file formats including WAV and MP3 - which Audacity will also happily work with. I've used Audacity several times to edit a soundtrack destined for a Movie Maker project.

Re: trying to record from keyboard

Very true, but it is a good (convenient and quick) way of getting a tune recorded for any keyboard players. Yup, fair point. I just wanted to avoid paxsonkev thinking that was the only way to go. That depends a lot on the hardware - there are professional quality PCI synth boards that knock the spo...

Re: Editing Program

The "Remove Vocals" trick in Audacity works on the principle that vocals are almost always in the centre of a mix. So if the drums are also in the centre they get lost too. Beyond that, there's no way in Audacity of successfully isolating or removing a specific instrument or voice.

Re: trying to record from keyboard

Steve, Your additional advice is absolutely correct in principle, but I would suggest that it's not the best way to go for a couple of reasons. Recording the audio output of a soundcard playing General MIDI means you miss out on the possibility of recording, editing and rearranging the MIDI data in ...

Re: trying to record from keyboard

Hi - I have a similar problem. But my M-Audio Keystation 49e doesn't have a headphone jack. So is my only option an analog to USB audio adapter? Your M-Audio is a USB controller keyboard, which means it makes no sound of its own - hence no headphone socket. It sends out MIDI key information via USB...

Re: Track labels

Track labels in Audacity are not the same as track markers on a CD - track labels only exist within an Audacity project and are not exported in a WAV or MP3 file. Most CD burner apps have the option to add track markers to the finished CD.

Re: Audio Track controls disappearing

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but is there a blank space where the sliders should be or are the is the track display too narrow? I can't replicate the problem you're having (Audacity changing the height itself), but if you move the bottom of a track display up the Gain and Pan sliders are hi...
