Re: I need help (I'm new)

Audacity has a bad habit of opening files it doesn't actually support and then plays the nasty blip you're hearing. Audacity won't work with native iTunes files - save them as WAV or MP3 first and you'll be able to open them ok.

Re: Problem with Guitar FX and Audacity

From what I can gather Guitar FX is a standalone application, so my guess is that it's processing the incoming audio but the resulting effected signal is not passed to Audacity - it only "hears" the incoming signal from the selected input, not from the output of Guitar FX. You may be able to pick up...

Re: Echo in headphones when multi track recording

Try de-selecting the other option (Software Playthrough). This is probably the problem - it means you're monitoring the incoming recording via your hardware and then, with a slight delay, the same signal via software. The Software Playback option is there for older or low spec audio devices that don...

Re: Creative Sampling and Technique

Your post is a little vague, could you expand a little on what you want to do? I'm struggling to think of what you mean by "an easier way than cutting and pasting directly onto the main screen". If you mean when editing samples, then you can batch process some actions but for the most part it's a ma...

Re: Tempo Version 1.34

Yes, it's right there on the Effects menu. I've never used the Linux version so I can't comment on the Tempo effects mysterious disappearance on that platform.

Re: Can Audacity handle this?

Yes, but it'll take some manual work. You'll be able to cut and paste between the two tracks, taking the few seconds of track 1 from the start of track 2 and adding it to the end of track 1 and so on. It may take a bit of effort to match up the join so that there's no audible glitch - if you're new ...

Re: Splitting exixting tracks

In the Audacity tutorials you'll find a trick that can sometimes isolate the vocals in a track - if they are dead centre in a mix (and even then with often mixed results). Beyond that, there's no way of completely isolating individual tracks in a mix. The analogy used around here is often food-based...

Re: Suddenly Stops recording

The first thing that comes to mind is disk space - do you have plenty of free disk space? At the bottom left of the application window Audacity will indicate how much is available (based on current recording settings) expressed as hours and minutes of recording time.

Re: Using USB port for recording

Please note that many users on this forum have had problems with USB audio devices, particularly USB turntables which seem to be very unreliable. Indeed, I get the impression that it's almost exclusively USB turntables (and to a degree USB mikes) that cause hassle for Audacity users, to the point w...

Re: inserting speach

If you've seen others do it without a mike, then the only way they could be doing so is by importing a pre-recorded audio file. Unless of course they're using the built-in mike found in most laptops. Which is a mike, only one that's not very obvious ;) Check out the Audacity Tutorials for general ad...
